Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, Chairman of the Water Committee (WC), and Deputy Chairman Martiros Nalbandyan met today with Tea Melikadze, Regional Head of Infrastructure for the Caucasus at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Remon Zakaria, Head of the Armenia Office, Nurilya Moldakhmatova, Procurement Specialist at the Headquarters, and Rudik Tadevosyan, Project Manager and Representative of the Bank's Armenia Office.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the current status of the reservoir construction projects approved by the Government of Armenia, the implementation timeline, and upcoming tasks regarding the pre-qualification of construction companies and the preparation of required documentation.
Reference was made to the project for the construction of five reservoirs planned with EBRD support, which was approved during the 7th session of the Public Investment Committee on October 23, 2025.
Aramazd Ghalamkaryan emphasized that by 2033, construction on 10 reservoirs is planned to commence in Armenia, of which 4 must be completed, while construction work on the remaining 6 will be underway.
The Chairman of the Water Committee stressed the importance of launching the projects as quickly as possible, noting that, if necessary, they are prepared to review the initial procurement strategy and consider alternative options for packaging the works.
In this context, a market study is planned in the near future, inviting representatives of local and international construction companies. The discussions will assess the companies' technical and professional capacities, as well as their interest in implementing the five-reservoir construction project.
The parties highlighted the continuity of cooperation and the prompt organization of joint efforts toward the effective and timely implementation of upcoming projects.
