Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, Chairman of the Water Committee (WC), accompanied by Deputy Chairman Karen Daghbashyan and heads of the committee’s sectoral departments, paid a working visit to the Shirak Province. En route to Gyumri, the WC Chairman stopped in the town of Maralik, where he met with Arman Saribekyan, head of the consolidated Ani community.

The parties discussed urgent issues regarding both drinking water and irrigation water supply, focusing on the construction of new aqueducts and the repair of existing infrastructure. The Chairman promised to closely follow up and explore funding sources to address the raised issues. Together with the head of the Ani community, Ghalamkaryan visited the Sarnaghbyur reservoir to inspect on-site filtration issues. They subsequently visited drinking water sources in the area, where a proposal was presented to the WC Chairman outlining potential steps to supply drinking water to nearby settlements.

In the provincial center of Gyumri, the Water Committee Chairman met with Davit Arushanyan, Governor of Shirak Province, and Deputy Governor Albert Ayvazyan to discuss high-priority regional issues.

Special attention was given to the long-standing issue surrounding the "Ajapnya" canal on the Akhuryan River—a legal entanglement linked to the alienation of the canal and its handover for operation to "Jradzor HPP."

The parties met with representatives of "Lighteco," the company operating the hydroelectric power plant on the Akhuryan River, and conducted a joint inspection tour of the Akhuryan River and the "Ajapnya" canal area. The Water Committee Chairman emphasized that every effort will be made to resolve the issue and restore the Akhuryan River to its natural flow.
