Construction of a new drinking water pipeline has launched in Brnakot.

October 05, 2026

The Water Committee has initiated the construction of a new drinking water pipeline in the settlement of Brnakot, located in the Sisian community of Syunik Province.

As part of the project, a pipeline approximately 4.3 km long will be constructed from the "Mukhurtaryan-Hatsavan" aqueduct to Brnakot’s existing daily regulation reservoir (DRR). Water will be delivered to the DRR via a gravity-flow system at a rate of 8 liters per second.

The necessity for constructing the new water line stems from the poor technical condition of Brnakot's current water supply infrastructure. Over the years, the intake structures (captages) that provide the main volume of water to the settlement have degraded and lack sanitary protection zones. Furthermore, the condition of the existing 17 km steel pipeline stretching toward Brnakot is problematic; deterioration along specific sections has led to frequent system breakdowns.

Upon completion, the project will ensure a stable, safe, and round-the-clock water supply for approximately 2,500 residents, significantly improving the reliability of the settlement's water supply system.
