Today, Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, Chairman of the Water Committee (WC), received representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission. Discussions focused on the necessity of revising the Water Code or drafting a new Water Code, current natural resource utilization fees, and the Armenian Government's vision for transformation in the management of water systems.

In this context, Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) was also addressed regarding the formation of coordinating bodies at policy and technical levels, as well as clarifying the roles and responsibilities of various agencies.

During the meeting, upcoming reforms in the irrigation sector were highlighted, specifically regarding the operational enhancement of water suppliers and Water Users Associations (WUAs), the strengthening of accountability mechanisms, and the improvement of tariff policy.

At the conclusion of the meeting, at the request of IMF officials, the WC Chairman outlined the current progress on establishing the Committee on Land and Water, along with the key expected outcomes of the planned transformation.
