On August 3 of this year, in the Ptghni Gorge of Kotayk Province, adjacent to a restaurant complex within the sanitary protection zone of the 900 mm diameter "Arzni-2" water conduit, an economic entity conducted earthworks using heavy machinery without prior coordination with "Veolia Jur" CJSC, failing to observe the safety and preservation requirements for the pipeline.

As a result of the unauthorized actions of the economic entity, the foundations of the conduit's structural supports were damaged and the base of the "Arzni-2" conduit collapsed, leading to a large-scale water leak. Due to the necessary repair and restoration works, the water supply to the Kentron and Arabkir administrative districts of Yerevan was interrupted for a substantial duration.

In connection with the incident, a working group was formed within the Water Committee, an investigation was conducted, and administrative proceedings were initiated.

To ensure the protection and uninterrupted operation of water infrastructure, particularly conduits, we urge economic entities to strictly adhere to the requirements established for the sanitary and protection zones of conduits and to coordinate any planned works with the relevant authorities and "Veolia Jur" CJSC prior to execution.
