Today, a regular discussion of the Working Group on Small and Medium Reservoirs, established by the decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, was held at the Water Committee.

Headed by Artashes Tumanyan, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Armenia and Head of the Working Group for the program established to improve the efficient use and management of water resources, ongoing work and upcoming tasks directed toward the construction of reservoirs were discussed.

Participants in the discussion included Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, Chairman of the Water Committee, Deputy Chairmen of the Committee, the Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Finance, as well as representatives from the Armenian Territorial Development Fund, "Jrar" CJSC, and other sectoral officials included in the working group.

Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, Chairman of the Water Committee, noted that the reservoir construction program is a vital component of Armenia's water security, aimed both at agricultural development and ensuring long-term water sustainability.

Martiros Nalbandyan, Secretary of the Working Group and Manager of the Water and Irrigation Services Improvement Project (WISE) in Armenia, informed attendees that 22 reservoirs across various provinces of Armenia are currently in the stages of discussion, study, design, or construction. He addressed the recorded results and existing challenges.

Specific reference was made to the timelines for filling the Vedi Reservoir, as well as projects for the Selav-Mastara, Yeghvard, and other new small and medium reservoirs. For some of these projects, design and cost estimation document packages have passed all expertise review stages, receiving positive complex expertise conclusions.

One of the key topics of discussion was the Kaps Reservoir project. It was noted that there are positive developments in the process, and on the initiative of the Ministry of Finance, the issue is planned to be discussed at an upcoming meeting of the Public Investment Committee.

Summarizing the discussion, Aramazd Ghalamkaryan expressed gratitude to Artashes Tumanyan, Head of the Working Group, Martiros Nalbandyan, Secretary of the Group, and other members for the significant work accomplished over the past five years. He expressed confidence that inter-agency and expert community cooperation will successfully continue in the upcoming five-year period, aimed at the construction of new reservoirs.
