Today, Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, Chairman of the Water Committee, hosted a delegation from the World Bank (WB), led by Fabrizio Zarcone, Country Manager for the WB Office in Armenia.
During the meeting, reference was made to the "Armenia Water and Irrigation Services Improvement Program," which was discussed last week in the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly. The program will be co-financed by the World Bank and the French Development Agency (AFD). The funds will be directed toward reforming the water sector and developing institutional capacity, modernizing water supply and drainage systems—particularly in rural settlements—as well as improving irrigation infrastructure and system management.
The parties also discussed organizational matters related to the development of the Water Compact and its joint signing with the President of the World Bank.
Ghalamkaryan expressed his gratitude to the World Bank representatives for their effective cooperation.
