At the invitation of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), employees of the Water Committee of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure (MTAI) of the Republic of Armenia paid an official visit to Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

The delegation from the Water Committee participating in the three-day training program titled "Joint Management of the Water and Energy Complex in Central Asia: Current Status and State Programs — Exchange of Experience" included:

• Suren Asryan, Deputy Head of the Monitoring and Analysis Department
• Gegham Ter-Grigoryan, Advisor to the Water Supply and Sanitation Department
• Edvard Badalyan, Deputy Head of the Irrigation and Collector-Drainage Systems Department

During the seminar-training, participants discussed regional issues, risks, and potential solutions in water resource management, utilization, and the energy sector. Key topics included joint management and usage of transboundary water resources and collaborative water quality monitoring operations. Additionally, discussions were held regarding sustainable development challenges, potential solutions, and future prospects for Central Asian countries.

During a panel discussion, Suren Asryan delivered a address outlining the Republic of Armenia's experience in joint water resource monitoring conducted with the Republic of Georgia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as joint water usage and hydro-metering operations along the Akhuryan and Araks rivers with the Republic of Turkey.

Participants expressed their readiness to continue and further deepen future cooperation.

Meetings, Speeches, Raised & Discussed Issues: During the panel discussion organized within the framework of the training program, I served as a speaker and presented Armenia's operational experience in joint water resource monitoring initiatives with the Republic of Georgia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as joint water resource usage and hydro-metering operations along the Akhuryan and Araks rivers with the Republic of Turkey. Furthermore, discussions took place regarding sustainable development challenges, prospects, and strategic solutions across Central Asian states. Interactive group exercises were conducted addressing the scope of questions raised.

Decisions Adopted, Agreements Reached, Signed Documents: No formal decisions were adopted or documents signed. Participants expressed mutual readiness to continue and further deepen ongoing cooperation.

Recommendations & Implementation Proposals (Methods, Forms, Timelines, Responsible Parties, Expected Outcomes): The knowledge gained and technical skills acquired during the seminar are expected to be applied toward addressing existing challenges within the water sector of the Republic of Armenia.
