Deputy Chairman of the Water Committee Nvard Vardanyan, together with the Ambassador of Japan to Armenia, H.E. Yutaka Aoki, and the UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia, Natia Natsvlishvili, attended the opening ceremony of a newly constructed daily regulation reservoir (DRR) in the Chambarak community of Gegharkunik Province.

Financed by the Government of Japan and constructed within the framework of the UNDP program "Support for Displaced Persons from Nagorno-Karabakh and Host Communities in Armenia through the Rehabilitation of Basic Infrastructure and Social Integration," the reservoir has a capacity of 11,000 m³.

The operation of the DRR is expected to significantly improve irrigation water access, enabling the restoration of irrigation for around 200 hectares of previously unirrigated arable land and securing a stable water supply for approximately 200 households. As part of the project, the Chambarak community also contributed to the construction of a 4,424-meter-long irrigation water distribution system adjacent to the DRR.
