Davit Martirosyan, an employee of the Irrigation and Drainage Systems Department of the Water Committee, Naira Avetyan, a specialist with the "Improvement of Water and Irrigation Services in Armenia" Project, and Arman Abrahamyan, a specialist from "Jrar" CJSC, participated in the international seminar entitled "Construction and Management of Irrigation Systems for Belt and Road Countries" in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China.

The seminar featured thematic lectures, field site visits, as well as cultural and educational activities. Representatives from participating countries presented national reports highlighting certain geoeconomic characteristics, issues related to the management and modernization of irrigation systems, technology development and application, scientific research, and current challenges.

Possible avenues for cooperation with China were also discussed, including attracting investments, deploying advanced technologies, organizing professional training programs, capacity building, and technology transfer.

The Armenian delegation was entrusted with chairing one of the sessions. Furthermore, Armenia was given the opportunity to present the first report among all participating countries, showcasing the potential of Armenia's water sector, its development priorities, and opportunities for future cooperation on an international professional platform.

Within the framework of the seminar, a preliminary agreement was reached to establish cooperation between the National Research Institute for Rural Electrification under the Ministry of Water Resources of the PRC and the Technical Commission for the Use and Protection of Water Systems of the Water Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

This cooperation will aim to promote interaction in the scientific domain, exchange expertise and knowledge, as well as train water sector specialists and enhance professional capacities.
