The 8th session of the Public Investment Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, took place.

Within the framework of the agenda, Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, Chairman of the Water Committee of the MTAI of the Republic of Armenia, presented the draft public investment project "Wastewater Management in the Lake Sevan Basin." Details were presented regarding the current state of operational wastewater treatment plants and the proposed technical solutions.

Ghalamkaryan emphasized that the project is planned to be implemented in 3 phases: modernization of existing wastewater treatment plants and addition of biological treatment, construction of new wastewater treatment plants in medium-sized agglomerations, and construction of small individual wastewater treatment plants for isolated and small rural communities.

Issues related to the management framework and progress of the project were discussed during the meeting, and the possibility of implementing the project in various formats was addressed. The project was approved.

The Chairman of the Committee also presented the issue related to the further course of the project for the construction of the Kaps Reservoir and gravity irrigation system. The works already performed were presented, including the construction of the water diversion system of the Akhuryan River, excavation and reinforcement works of the inlet and outlet of the irrigation tunnel, installation of an early warning system, excavation of archaeological sites, land clearing works, etc.

Next, the current situation and problems that arose during the implementation of the works, the resources required to bring the project to completion, and plans for the transformation and expansion of the project were addressed.

The Public Investment Committee discussed the matter and approved the proposal submitted to bring the project to completion.
