Today at the Water Committee, a meeting chaired by Chairman Aramazd Ghalamkaryan was held to discuss details regarding the consulting services for accompanying measures under the project "Integrated Water Resources Management / Construction of Kaps Reservoir and Gravity Irrigation Scheme on the Akhuryan River," funded by the German Development Bank (KfW).

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairmen of the Water Committee, sectoral leads, as well as representatives from stakeholder agencies and organizations, including the Ministry of Environment, the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO of the Ministry of Environment, "Shirak" WUA, the ATDF, and "Jrar" CJSC.

The consulting services contract was signed on June 9 of this year between the Water Committee and an international consortium led by GFA Consulting Group GmbH. The scope of services includes technical assistance, preparation of analyses and reports, training programs, and institutional capacity building aimed at supporting the effective management of water and land resources in the Akhuryan River basin, as well as ensuring the sustainable operation of the planned Kaps Reservoir and gravity irrigation system.

Implementation of the project will contribute to mitigating technical and safety risks associated with the unfinished Kaps Reservoir, introducing modern water resources management approaches, enhancing institutional capacities, and fulfilling environmental and social requirements.
