On July 1–2 of this year, Nvard Vardanyan, Deputy Chairwoman of the Water Committee of the MTAI of the Republic of Armenia, participated in the regional conference of the Steering Committee for the "EU for Green Recovery" program in Paris. Within the framework of the conference, she also took part in workshops addressing emerging contaminants in water, as well as river basin management and planning.

During the conference, Nvard Vardanyan delivered a speech outlining the progress achieved under the program and presenting the Water Committee's expectations. The Deputy Chairwoman specifically highlighted the importance of approximating EU Urban Wastewater Treatment Directives, along with the study on reforming irrigation water tariffs and the subsidy system provided to Water User Associations (WUAs).

Ms. Vardanyan also took part in discussions organized at the Artois-Picardie Water Agency in France. These discussions showcased the French experience in irrigation, drinking water supply, sanitation, and wastewater treatment, taking into account key EU water management directives, including the Water Framework Directive, the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive, the Nitrates Directive, and the Drinking Water Directive.

Bilateral meetings were also held on the sidelines of the conference to discuss the continued implementation of the program and ways to ensure ongoing support for Armenia's water sector.
