Dear Citizens,

In recent days, assertions have been circulating in the press and on social media claiming that Yerevan’s drinking water supply schedule has been violated, and that the schedule published by Veolia Jur CJSC on April 3 of this year has been altered and deteriorated. The Water Committee of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia and Veolia Jur CJSC officially declare that these claims do not correspond to reality.

As a reminder, schedules published by Veolia Jur CJSC in November 2025 and February 2026 stipulated that from May 1 to September 16, 2026, the water supply for numerous subscribers in Yerevan was to be reduced to up to 17 hours per day.

Following the intervention of the Government, the Water Committee and Veolia Jur revised and optimized the published schedule, committing to double down on efforts in the following two key directions:

• Capital overhauls and infrastructure improvements of water supply and distribution networks across Yerevan;
• The discovery of new water sources and the diversion of additional water volumes to the city of Yerevan.

As a result, we note with satisfaction that as of July 2 of this year, subscribers in Yerevan continue to receive water under the same schedule that was in effect prior to May 1. In other words, the schedule published on April 3 has not yet taken effect, as Veolia Jur and the Water Committee succeeded in carrying out the aforementioned work at an accelerated pace.

Specifically, within the framework of the agreement concluded between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and Veolia Jur CJSC, capital works worth approximately 11 billion AMD are nearly complete in Yerevan’s Nubarashen, Ajapnyak, Malatia-Sebastia, and Kentron administrative districts, as well as in several provinces. In addition, intensive operations have been and remain underway to convey water resources from three new sources to Yerevan.

We deem it necessary to emphasize that the water outages recorded over the past two days in the Arabkir, Kentron, and Erebuni administrative districts were not due to the current supply schedule, but rather to repairs on a damaged section of the "Arzni 1" aqueduct. Specifically, a 90-meter section of the 900 mm diameter pipeline in the Ptghni Gorge was replaced with a 1000 mm diameter steel pipeline. The announced outage duration of up to 36 hours was necessitated not only by the repair work itself, but also by the technical process of refilling the aqueduct and reservoirs, which requires several additional hours.

As of July 2, the repair work has been completed, refilling of the reservoirs is in progress, and regular water supply to the Arabkir, Kentron, and Erebuni administrative districts will be fully restored within the announced timeframe.
