Today, the Water Committee hosted a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Luc Fochman, Acting Country Director of the ADB Armenia Resident Mission.
During the meeting, the participants addressed water resource management and wastewater treatment projects being implemented through ADB within the framework of their cooperation.
The topic of reservoir construction was also discussed, specifically the progress of feasibility studies for the Getik, Karmir Gyugh, and Garnahovit reservoirs. Reference was made to opportunities for collaboration on the construction of the Yeghvard Reservoir, and issues regarding the current status of the Kaps Reservoir were touched upon as well.
The ADB-implemented technical assistance program, "Solutions Promoting Environmental Sustainability and Disaster Resilience of Lake Sevan," was discussed in greater detail. As a priority, options for transitioning from mechanical treatment to biological treatment at the three operational wastewater treatment plants in the Gavar, Martuni, and Vardenis communities within the Sevan basin were examined.
An agreement was reached to hold separate technical meetings to discuss the most effective options for the further implementation of the projects presented across three phases.
