Since last year, the Water Committee has launched a program of 13 capital works for the major overhaul of drinking water supply systems, with completion scheduled for 2026.

Under this program, capital rehabilitation works are underway for the most critical drinking water supply systems and distribution networks in Yerevan's Nubarashen, Ajapnyak, Malatia-Sebastia, and Kentron administrative districts, as well as Aknalich settlement (Metsamor community, Armavir Province), Alaverdi community (Lori Province), and Ashtarak community (Aragatsotn Province).

Scope of distribution network reconstruction and zoning works:

• Kentron administrative district: 6,930 linear meters
• Malatia-Sebastia administrative district: 4,235 linear meters
• Nubarashen administrative district: 20 linear meters
• Ajapnyak administrative district: 11,883 linear meters
• Alaverdi: 1,807 linear meters
• Aknalich: 6,169 linear meters
• Ashtarak: 4,987 linear meters

With a budget of around AMD 3.4 billion, the ongoing works under the program include:

• Earthworks (trench excavation, manual soil preparation)
• Pipe laying and sand backfilling
• Removal of excess soil
• Construction and reconstruction of valve chambers

The implementation of this program will ensure more reliable management of the water distribution network, reduce operational costs, improve water quality, and yield water savings of 191 liters per second. This will make it possible to improve the water supply schedule in Yerevan and the above-mentioned provinces.
