With the goal of improving Armenia's water infrastructure and enhancing the quality of water supply and sanitation services provided to the population, the Armenia Territorial Development Fund (ATDF) is continuing the implementation of the project "Municipal Infrastructure II Project, Phase 3: Water Supply and Sanitation Infrastructure in Armenia," supported by the German Credit Institute for Reconstruction (KfW).

A regular meeting of the Project Steering Committee took place at the Water Committee, with the participation of Chairman Aramazd Ghalamkaryan. Representatives from the KfW Bank, ATDF, the European Union, the Embassy of Germany in Armenia, and "Veolia Jur" CJSC attended the meeting. Ashot Khachatryan, Deputy Director of ATDF, presented the current status of the project and existing challenges.

Specifically, the meeting addressed the progress of reconstructing water supply and sanitation systems in the settlements of Arzakan, Khnatsakh, Urut, and Agarak. It was noted that construction works for wastewater treatment systems are also underway in the settlements of Urut and Agarak. Technical and organizational issues identified in individual settlements, along with the efforts aimed at resolving them, were also presented.

As the body responsible for the project, the Water Committee consistently oversees its implementation to ensure the full commissioning and subsequent efficient operation of the planned infrastructure.

Under the framework of the project, work is being carried out across Shirak, Lori, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik provinces to rehabilitate and modernize water supply and sanitation systems.
